PURPOSE OF ROLE

Your role is to support the daily care, welfare and operational readiness of the Cavalry and other onsite animals (excluding birds) across the Kynren site. Working as part of the Cavalry Team, you will assist with feeding regimes, stable management, horse rotation and general animal husbandry to ensure the highest standards of welfare and presentation are maintained throughout the season.

This is a physically demanding, fully backstage role requiring commitment, reliability and a proactive approach within a live performance environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Embody the Kynren Spirit at all times, maintaining professionalism, positivity and a genuine smile in every interaction.

Animal Care and Welfare

  • Assist with daily feeding regimes in accordance with established nutritional plans.
  • Undertake mucking out, stable management and bedding maintenance to a high standard.
  • Support horse rotation schedules to ensure welfare, conditioning and show readiness.
  • Monitor animal health and behaviour, reporting any concerns promptly to senior staff.
  • Support the care of other onsite animals as directed.
  • Maintain clean, organised and safe yard, stable and paddock environments.
  • Ensure equipment is stored correctly and yard areas remain hazard-free.
  • Assist with preparation of horses and animals for rehearsals and performances.
  • Work collaboratively with Cavalry, Creative and Operations teams to support show delivery.

Other Duties

  • To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Practical experience working with horses, ideally in a yard environment.
  • Strong understanding of basic horse care, stable management and welfare principles.
  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work within a rota system, including weekends.
  • Ability to follow instruction and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Calm and confident manner when working around large animals.

Desirable

  • Relevant equine or animal care qualifications.
  • Experience supporting horses within a performance or public-facing environment.
  • Knowledge of conditioning routines for working horses.
  • Experience working with additional livestock.
